Main Purpose of the Role

The Assistant Headteacher will support the headteacher and deputy headteacher in providing strategic and day-to-day leadership of Gosford Park Primary School, ensuring that every pupil achieves well academically, socially and emotionally. Working in a busy two-form-entry primary in central Coventry with high levels of deprivation and diversity, the postholder will lead and champion inclusive pastoral provision, attendance and wellbeing alongside high-quality teaching and curriculum standards. The Assistant Headteacher will model the school’s vision and values, foster staff professionalism, and contribute to driving whole-school improvement as part of the RISE process.

Key objectives:

• Promote a culture where pupils experience a positive, safe and enriching school life and make strong progress.
• Oversee and develop pastoral systems that remove barriers to learning for vulnerable groups (EAL, pupils eligible for pupil premium, pupils with SEN/D, looked-after pupils).
• Lead strategic work on attendance, behaviour, mental health and family engagement to improve outcomes and reduce persistent absence.
• Contribute to the development, implementation and monitoring of the school improvement plan and operational systems to secure lasting improvement.
