Bursar and Health and Safety Manager with Facilities Management
Salary: £39,152 – £44,075 (G9, SCP 28–33) pro rata
Permanent, Part time, Term time only.
Hours per week: In the region of 30 hours per week, working pattern to be negotiated.
Weeks per year: 38, plus 5 inset days

We are looking for an enthusiastic, organised professional, who has excellent interpersonal skills to join our team as our new Bursar. This is a key role in the smooth running of our school, working closely with the Headteacher.
The postholder will implement consistent operational policy and procedure at the school, support strategic school decision-making, and line manage a variety of support staff at the school site, including the site team and administration team.
The successful candidate must have:
- A warm, approachable and professional manner to build positive relationships with staff, families, governors, and visitors.
- Excellent communication skills in order to communicate clearly and confidently in person, by phone, and in writing.
- Collaborative partnership skills to engage and work closely with the Headteacher and staff to support a smooth-running school.
- Discretion and confidentiality when handling sensitive information with professionalism and integrity.
- A supportive presence to contribute to a welcoming, child‑centred school environment.
- Commitment to the school ethos and uphold the Christian values that guide Sir John Offley CE Primary School.
- A reliable, flexible and good-humoured nature
We need someone who:
- has a passion for education and proven experience as an effective Bursar/School Business Manager
- has a strong knowledge of school finance, HR, and estate management (including Health and Safety)
- demonstrates enthusiasm, initiative, flexibility, and a committed approach to their work
- is an effective team builder who is dynamic and inspires others
- can attend termly Governing Committee meetings to provide strategic financial oversight
- has excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- has experience of working collaboratively with a variety of internal and external stakeholders, including Local Authority partners
