We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Finance Administrator to join our fantastic central team at Prospere Learning Trust.

This is a 12-month fixed-term contract, working 35 hours per week. The starting salary is £29,064 per annum (Grade 5). The expected start date is 1st September 2026, with the contract ending on 31st August 2027. Flexible working patterns such as term time only working can be considered.

About the role:

As a Finance Administrator within our Central Finance Team, you will work closely with the Finance Manager and Senior Finance Administrator to deliver high-quality financial administration across the Trust. You will play a key role in ensuring finance transactions are processed accurately, efficiently and in line with Trust financial regulations, procedures and best practice.

We are seeking an experienced Finance Administrator who can demonstrate:

  • Experience of carrying out core transactional finance activities across both purchase and sales ledger functions.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
  • Excellent attention to detail, with the ability to prepare, maintain and monitor financial records accurately.
  • Strong organisational and prioritisation skills, with the ability to manage multiple competing deadlines.
  • Experience of carrying out core transactional finance activities across both purchase and sales ledger functions.
  • Experience of using financial management systems. Experience of working with PS Financials (PSF) would be advantageous.
  • A collaborative approach, supporting continuous improvement and the vision, values and objectives of the Trust.
  • Effective communication skills, with tact and diplomacy when working with a range of stakeholders.
  • Experience of working within a school, academy or education environment would be advantageous.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Processing purchase orders in accordance with Trust financial procedures.
  • Matching invoices to purchase orders, investigating discrepancies and taking appropriate follow-up action.
  • Posting invoices for payment and ensuring correct authorisation procedures are followed.
  • Preparing payment runs and maintaining supplier records.
  • Posting invoices to PS Financials (PSF) in preparation for payment, ensuring appropriate authorisation and compliance with Trust procedures.
  • Raising sales invoices and posting income transactions through PS Financials (PSF), ensuring appropriate supporting documentation and VAT treatment is applied.

  • Processing income transactions and maintaining accurate accounting records.
  • Supporting month-end processes, including accruals and prepayments.
  • Reviewing financial reports and commitments to support accurate financial reporting.
  • Supporting the Finance Manager and Senior Finance Officer with finance projects and process improvements.
  • Ensuring compliance with Trust financial regulations, procedures and best practice at all times.
