Job Title: Finance Officer
Reports to: Chief Executive Officer
Hours: 20 hours per week
Salary: £ 16,432.00 -£17,160.00 pa depending upon experience (based on 20 hours)
Location: The Old Library Centre, 65 Ombersley Street East, Droitwich Spa, WR9 8QS
Summary
Are you an experienced Finance Officer looking for a collaborative role that is varied, challenging and makes a real difference? If you have experience of project finance, including budget management, and awareness of charity finance principles, then we would love to hear from you.
We are seeking a dedicated Finance Officer to join our team at Droitwich Spa CVS. This role is vital in managing our financial operations to ensure the sustainability and growth of our community programs. The Finance Officer will play a key part in maintaining accurate financial records and supporting our mission of community development.
Responsibilities
- To deliver high quality financial support to the charity using Xero software.
- To manage and deliver our Accounting, Payroll and Pensions functions.
- To prepare accurate and timely management accounts to support the day-to-day operations of the charity and contribute to the strategic planning.
- To play an active part in the team, supporting the future development of the organisation and uphold the charity’s values through team working.
Key Tasks
- Lead on all day-to-day financial processes for the charity developing smarter ways of working where appropriate
- Prepare monthly accurate and appropriate management accounts and cash flow forecasts for the charity.
- Prepare annual budgets, financial forecasts and support the annual external audit process.
- Maintain financial procedures and policies, ensuring all aspects comply with legal requirements, financial processes and controls.
- Process salaries and pensions monthly ensuring compliance and regulation are met.
- Complete Gift Aid Claims and deal with any associated issues that may arise.
- Ensure that the charity is compliant with statutory and regulatory requirements particularly in relation to record keeping and confidentiality.
- Work closely with the charity’s auditors to ensure relevant procedures are followed and unqualified accounts are produced within the required timeframes.
- Work with the CEO to provide accurate financial information and costings for developing projects.
- Ensure all necessary financial and charity returns are completed
- Ensure compliance with changing charity and company legislation
- Ensure internal financial controls are developed and adhered to.
- Integrate systems and processes to improve ways of collaborative working.
- Provide timely information for grant and trust applications
- Receipt and process of cash and cheque donations
Other duties:
- Communicate effectively with all individuals and groups both within and outside the organisation
- Ensure up to date knowledge of legislation and best practice
- Attend appropriate courses to ensure continued professional development
- Attend Board meetings to present the management accounts as required
- Undertake any other duty within your ability and within reason, as may be required from time to time, at the direction of your line manager.
- Undertake and comply with mandatory staff training
- Be prepared to work flexibly, including evenings and weekends as the role demands. Time off in lieu is given for this.
