We are seeking to appoint a committed, enthusiastic and caring Grade 3 Teaching Assistant to join our dedicated team from 1 September 2026. This is an exciting opportunity to support children in achieving their full potential whilst working alongside skilled and supportive colleagues.
The successful candidate will primarily support our youngest learners in mixed Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) and Key Stage 1 classes.
We are particularly interested in candidates who have experience of, or a passion for, early years education, outdoor learning and inclusive practice.
The successful candidate will play an important role in delivering targeted interventions, supporting individual pupils, and contributing to the continued development of engaging indoor and outdoor learning environments.
This post is linked to specific funding and is therefore offered on a fixed-term basis until 21 July 2027. Subject to continued funding, there is potential for the contract to be extended until July 2028.

Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will:
- Support pupils' learning within the classroom through high-quality classroom support, targeted interventions and, where required, individual 1:1 support.
- Work with individual pupils and small groups to reinforce learning objectives, accelerate progress and promote independence.
- Deliver targeted interventions to individuals and small groups, including phonics, speech and language, communication and language development, and early literacy programmes.
- Support the implementation of provision plans, individual targets and strategies for pupils with additional needs, under the direction of the class teacher and SENDCo.
- Assist in the preparation, adaptation and organisation of learning activities and resources.
- Support pupils with a range of needs, including SEND, EAL and social, emotional and mental health needs.
- Promote positive behaviour and contribute to a safe, stimulating and inclusive learning environment.
- Support the development and enhancement of outdoor teaching and learning environments, helping to create engaging, purposeful and inclusive opportunities for learning and play for our youngest learners in mixed EYFS and Key Stage 1 classes.
- Work collaboratively with teaching staff to plan, resource and maintain high-quality outdoor provision that promotes children's communication, language, physical development, creativity, curiosity and independence.
- Monitor, record and report on pupils' progress within intervention programmes and 1:1 support sessions, providing feedback to teachers to support assessment and future planning.
- Undertake routine administrative tasks to support the efficient operation of the school, including maintaining accurate records and documentation.
- Record safeguarding concerns and incidents promptly and accurately using the school's safeguarding recording system, in line with school policies and procedures and under the guidance of the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL).
- Record accidents, incidents and other relevant health and safety information using the school's health and safety reporting system (My Health and Safety App), ensuring timely and accurate reporting.
- Support the supervision of pupils during playtimes, promoting positive behaviour, safety and inclusion.
- Provide emergency cover for lunchtime supervision when required, ensuring the welfare and safety of pupils at all times.
- Supervise pupils during educational visits, enrichment activities and extracurricular events as required.
- Contribute to the maintenance of a safe, secure and well-organised school environment by following health and safety procedures, supporting emergency arrangements such as fire evacuations and lockdowns, maintaining good housekeeping standards and addressing potential hazards where appropriate.
- Contribute positively to the wider life of the school, supporting colleagues with the organisation and delivery of events such as fundraising activities, celebration events and assemblies, performances, school fairs, discos, educational visits and other enrichment opportunities for pupils and families.
- Work collaboratively with teachers, support staff, parents and external agencies to support pupil achievement and wellbeing.
- Uphold safeguarding procedures and promote the welfare of all children.
- Undertake any other duties commensurate with the grade and responsibilities of the post, as may reasonably be required by the Headteacher.
Person Specification Essential
The successful candidate will:
- Hold an NVQ Level 3 qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning (or equivalent).
- Hold GCSE English and Mathematics at Grade 4/C or above (or equivalent qualifications).
- Have experience of working with primary-aged children.
- Have knowledge and understanding of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) Framework and the National Curriculum.
- Hold a Paediatric First Aid qualification or be willing to undertake training to achieve this.
- Demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Be patient, caring and committed to supporting all learners.
- Be able to work effectively as part of a team and use their own initiative.
- Have high expectations of pupils' achievement, behaviour and wellbeing.
- Demonstrate a strong commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
- Be flexible and willing to undertake additional reasonable duties appropriate to the role.
Desirable
- Experience of working within the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) and/or Key Stage 1.
- Knowledge of phonics programmes, early reading and language development.
- Experience of delivering speech and language, phonics or other intervention programmes.
- Experience of supporting pupils with SEND.
- Experience of outdoor learning and continuous provision.
- Current Paediatric First Aid qualification.
