Job description

Warwick District Council mange approximately 6000 homes. We are currently expanding to help people to thrive in our communities and as such have an exciting opportunity for additional Housing Officers to join our Landlord Operations Team.

What we are looking for

To be successful in this role, you will need previous experience in housing management. You should have a strong understanding of tenancy management, safeguarding, anti-social behaviour, and neighbourhood management principles.

Excellent communication and relationship-building skills are essential, alongside the ability to manage a diverse caseload and work collaboratively with external agencies and internal stakeholders. You will also need to be proactive, organised, and confident in dealing with challenging situations whilst maintaining excellent customer service standards.

You will need to have excellent interpersonal skills, an ability to work flexibly to changing demands and operate in a coordinated manner with other team members and clients.

Main responsibilities

As a Housing Officer, you will be based predominantly out on patch delivering a comprehensive housing management service, managing a range of tenancies and related responsibilities. This will include tenancy sustainment, anti-social behaviour case management, managing breaches of tenancy, safeguarding, inspections, customer signposting, tenancy audits and supporting sustainable communities through proactive intervention.

You will work closely with customers, contractors, local agencies, and internal teams to resolve issues effectively, supporting vulnerable tenants, whilst maintaining a visible presence within neighbourhoods. The role will also involve carrying out tenancy checks, supporting new tenancy sign-ups, managing abandoned properties, and assisting with community engagement initiatives.

Key responsibilities will include:

Working with tenants and customers using a problem solving and flexible approach in undertaking day to day duties in order to achieve positive outcomes and utilising mediation skills when dealing with difficult problems.

Identifying support needs to help our customers to sustain their tenancies.

Balancing support with enforcement, representing Warwick District Council in court where appropriate

Ideally you need to:

Be proficient in ICT applications

Be a confident communicator, both written and verbal working with housing clients

Emotional intelligence

Have a background in Housing

Have experience in interpreting complex Housing Legislation

Have a full driving licence and access to a vehicle.

37 Hours per week - Permanent

The Landlord Operations Team are a multi-disciplined team who manage our tenants from sign up through to end of tenancy.
