We are looking to recruit a primary trained teacher to deliver the key stage 3 curriculum to students with diagnosed SEN needs and/or EHCPs and support the transition of year 5/6 students who are working below age related expectations in preparation for Secondary School.
You will ensure that the pupils are included and supported in order to develop key skills and foundation knowledge that is wherever possible, in line with their peer.
Your duties will include adapting curriculum materials and lesson plans to meet the needs of your classes across a range of national curriculum subjects. Planning and delivering personal development sessions to develop social communication and interaction in preparation for adulthood and ensuring that SEN plans are followed in order for the students to achieve their targets and milestones. To do this you will be supported by the SENCO and Head of Faculty/Subjects to ensure that the core curriculum knowledge is covered and adaptations are appropriate, so the curriculum remains broad and balanced. You will act as an emotionally available adult to the students in your class and build positive relationships with parents are carers, reporting on progress, behaviour and achievements.
You should have sound working knowledge of the SEN Code of Practice, experience of teaching students with a wide range of special educational needs and a knowledge of phonics learning and reading strategies.
