Job description

Hodge Hill Girls’ School is seeking a dedicated and proactive Learning Mentor to provide targeted support for pupils who may be experiencing barriers to learning. You will work closely with students, staff, families, and external agencies to help pupils develop confidence, resilience, and the skills needed to achieve their full potential.

As a valued member of the team, you will play an important role in promoting positive behaviour, supporting pupils’ emotional and social development. This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who is passionate about helping young people succeed both inside and outside the classroom.

Key Responsibilities

●       Provide one-to-one and small-group mentoring to support pupils’ personal, social, and academic development.

●       Identify and address barriers to learning through targeted intervention and support plans.         ●       Promote positive behaviour, engagement, and regular attendance.

●       Build strong relationships with pupils, acting as a trusted and supportive role model.

●       Work collaboratively with teachers, pastoral staff, parents/carers, and external agencies.         ●       Monitor, record, and report on pupil progress and the impact of interventions.

●       Support the implementation of strategies that promote inclusion and wellbeing.

●       Maintain high standards of safeguarding and confidentiality at all times.

The Successful Candidate will Have

●       Experience working with children or young people in a school setting.

●      Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

●       The ability to build positive relationships and inspire confidence in young people.

●       An understanding of the challenges that can affect pupil engagement and achievement.         ●       Good organisational skills and the ability to manage a varied workload.

●      A patient, empathetic, and resilient approach.
