Job description

Reigate School is seeking an enthusiastic and organised Music Technician to support our vibrant Performing Arts department. Working closely with the Music Teacher and Head of Creative Arts, you will play a key role in ensuring music lessons, rehearsals, and performances run smoothly and are fully resourced and technically supported. This role is for 20 hours per week, 39 weeks per year.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone passionate about music, technology, and supporting young people’s creative development.

Key Responsibilities

You will:

  • Support the delivery of the music curriculum and assist in lessons
  • Work with students in small groups and provide in-class support
  • Organise and maintain music department resources and equipment
  • Assist with instrument care, basic repairs, and room maintenance
  • Support rehearsals, concerts, school productions, and assemblies
  • Provide technical support for sound, recording, and filming of events
  • Manage music technology (including computers, iPads, and recording equipment)
  • Help students and staff with music technology use
  • Support extra-curricular activities, with opportunities to lead ensembles
  • Assist with peripatetic lesson arrangements and administrative tasks
  • Supervise the safe use of music rooms and facilities

Person Specification:

Essential

  • GCSE Maths and English (Grade 4 or above or equivalent)
  • Good music knowledge and practical experience
  • Strong organisational and administrative skills
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Excellent communication skills with staff and students
  • Ability to prioritise workload and manage multiple tasks

Desirable

  • A music qualification
  • Experience working in a school environment
  • Instrument repair skills
  • Ability to accompany ensembles
