Peripatetic Drum Teacher
Chulmleigh Community College · Chulmleigh
We are seeking to appoint a dynamic and inspirational peripatetic Drum
Teacher to join our Expressive Arts department. You would coordinate and work
alongside our thriving music department.
You will deliver high quality instrumental lessons to either individual
students or small groups. There is also the opportunity for teaching work
within the three Primary Schools of the Chulmleigh Academic Trust. The vacancy is to cover the increasing number
of drum pupils and is currently expected to cover 4 – 5 teaching hours per
week. Lessons run each week throughout the academic year.
The College has been appointed as one of the lead secondary
schools for Music in Devon and works closely in partnership with other local
schools and the Devon Music Education Hub. This award has recognised the high
quality of both curriculum and extra-curricular music within the College.
Chulmleigh College aims to encourage as many pupils as possible to
participate in music, with opportunities for all pupils to attend lunch time
music activities and perform at regular concerts. Moreover, 30% of pupils are engaged with
either music or singing. Pupils enjoy
the benefits of well-equipped music classrooms and practice rooms which are
available for use by peripatetic teachers to deliver a full range of instrumental
and singing lessons.
The successful candidate will be expected to plan their own weekly
timetable for each half term period, taking into account the availability of
pupils. Main duties will include preparing pupils for music exams, GCSE
assessments and performances. The role will involve completion of all
administrative tasks required. The College offers financial support for Pupil
Premium children in order that all pupils can access this provision, should
they wish it. The postholder will liaise with parents regarding payment. Lesson
fees are currently set at £17 per 30-minute lesson.
