Salary: Level 2 Hourly Rate £13.05

Working Days/Hours: Monday-Friday, 30 hours per week (9.00am – 3.30pm)

Start Date: 1st September 2026

Millbrook Primary School is seeking a dedicated, caring and enthusiastic Level 2 Teaching Assistant to work within our Early Years team in the first instance, supporting a pupil with a physical disability. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a meaningful difference to a child’s development, wellbeing and access to learning.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide support to a pupil to enable full access to learning experiences.
  • Support the pupil’s physical needs, including mobility, positioning, and use of specialist equipment, in line with training and care plans.
  • Assist with personal care where required, ensuring dignity, safety and independence are promoted.
  • Work closely with the class teacher and SENDCo to implement individual education, health and care plans (EHCPs) and personalised provision.
  • Adapt activities and resources to ensure the pupil can fully access the curriculum.
  • Support the development of the pupil’s communication, social interaction and independence skills.
  • Promote positive behaviour, emotional wellbeing and inclusion within the classroom environment.
  • Monitor and record progress, providing regular feedback to staff on learning, development and wellbeing.
  • Work in line with school policies on safeguarding, child protection, health and safety, reporting concerns appropriately.
  • Liaise, where appropriate, with parents/carers and external professionals such as therapists.
  • Contribute to the wider life of the school, including trips, events and enrichment activities

We’re Looking for Someone Who:

  • Has experience working with children and/or pupils with SEND, particularly physical needs.
  • Is confident supporting pupils with mobility and personal care needs (training will be provided).
  • Has a strong understanding of inclusive practice and supporting individual needs.
  • Is patient, nurturing and able to build trusting, supportive relationships with young children.
  • Is proactive, flexible, and able to respond to the pupil’s changing needs throughout the day.
  • Works effectively as part of a team and communicates well with staff and families.
  • Is committed to helping every child achieve their full potential.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • A relevant qualification (e.g. Level 2 Teaching Assistant) is desirable.
  • A good standard of education, including GCSE English and Maths (Grade C/4 or equivalent).
  • Experience working with children in an educational or care setting is essential.
  • Experience supporting children with physical disabilities or additional needs is highly desirable but not essential as full training will be provided.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children is essential.
