SCHOOL

SENCO

Manor School · Wellingborough

Job description

The Role:

Manor School is seeking an ambitious, compassionate and highly effective Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Co-ordinator (SENDCo) to lead and develop our provision for students with SEND across our 11-19 school.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced SEND practitioner, or an aspiring SEND leader, to make a significant difference to the lives of young people. We are looking for a colleague who is committed to ensuring that every student can thrive academically, socially and personally through a combination of high-quality classroom practice and carefully targeted interventions.

At Manor School, we believe that the most effective support for students with SEND begins in the classroom. We are therefore looking for a SENDCo who will champion adaptive teaching, empower staff through the sharing of high-quality student information, and work collaboratively with teachers to ensure that students receive the support they need to be successful in lessons and beyond.

Alongside our commitment to inclusive classroom practice, we have developed 'The Nest', a dedicated suite of rooms designed to provide intervention programmes, small-group teaching and personalised support. The successful candidate will play a key role in shaping and developing the provision offered through The Nest, ensuring that interventions complement and enhance students' experiences in mainstream lessons.

Key Tasks:

  • Lead and strategically develop SEND provision across the school.
  • Champion inclusive teaching and learning through adaptive teaching approaches.
  • Ensure staff have access to clear, accurate and actionable information about students' needs.
  • Work closely with teachers, support staff, parents, carers and external agencies to secure the best outcomes for students.
  • Oversee the effective deployment of resources and interventions, ensuring they have a measurable impact.
  • Develop provision within The Nest to meet the evolving needs of our students.
  • Promote high aspirations for all students with SEND, preparing them for success in education, employment and adult life.

About You:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
  • Degree or equivalent qualification.
  • Commitment to achieving the NPQ SEND qualification within the required timescale if equivalent not already held.
  • Successful teaching experience in a secondary school.
  • Experience of supporting students with SEND to achieve positive outcomes.

Benefits:

  • Access to retail discounts, and technology schemes.
  • Access to Cycle to Work
  • 24/7 access to a free Employee Assistance Programme to provide confidential advice and guidance on any personal and/or work-related matter.
  • Free Mindfulness training with a qualified and experienced professional
  • An open and collaborative working environment, not just within your academy but also across the Trust where innovation is encouraged.
  • Discounted gym membership
  • Commitment to exploring ways to reduce email traffic and confine email replies to office hours - while recognising our employee’s preferences for when they work
  • Commitment to continuously review workload issues and explore options for simpler, less onerous methods and processes.

Nene Education Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff, students, and volunteers to share this commitment. All shortlisted candidates will be subject to an online search as part of our due diligence process.

Any offer of employment will be subject to DBS and Right to Work checks.

We look forward to your response.

The Trust will endeavour to make any necessary reasonable adjustments to the job and the working environment to enable access to employment opportunities for disabled job applicants or continued employment for any employee who develops a disabling condition.
