Salisbury NHS Foundation Trust · Salisbury, SP2 8BJ

Job description

This post is 6 months on Gastroenterology / 6 months on AMU.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone to join our Gastroenterology department . The Salisbury GI Service is an ambitious, forward-thinking department, combining gastroenterology, upper gastrointestinal and colorectal surgery, emergency general surgery, and endoscopy. The service provides complete care for patients with disorders relating to the gastrointestinal tract.

The position of Senior Clinical Fellow in Gastroenterology is a 12-month fixed term post as a Trust Doctor (IMT3+ equivalent). We are looking for a doctor who can work at registrar level to provide support with senior decision making and support junior doctors on the team to develop their clinical and non-clinical skills. Training in upper and/or lower GI endoscopy, including management of upper GI bleeds, will be supported, depending on the experience and needs of the applicant. The successful candidate will also be encouraged to attend general and sub-specialty gastroenterology clinics, in order to gain further experience in the specialty. This post is suitable for a trainee with IMT experience who wishes to gain more experience in Gastroenterology and would provide excellent preparation for a candidate considering an application for Gastroenterology specialty training. We are keen to support candidates to develop their portfolio and there will be an opportunity to undertake educational, academic or quality improvement projects whilst in post.
