We are seeking a caring and enthusiastic EYFS Teaching Assistant to support the learning and development of children in one of our three Reception classes. The role involves working closely with the class teacher to deliver engaging activities, supporting pupils’ social, emotional and educational development, and helping to create a safe, inclusive and stimulating learning environment. We have three Reception classes at Coten End so you will be part of a supportive and cohesive EYFS team.
The successful candidate will assist with classroom organisation, observe and record children’s progress, and provide tailored support for individuals or small groups. Strong communication skills, patience, and a genuine passion for early childhood development are essential.
Key Responsibilities are:
1. Supporting Pupils' Learning
- Assisting individual students or small groups with classwork.
- Helping pupils who need extra support, such as those with special educational needs (SEN) or English as an additional language (EAL).
- Encouraging engagement, focus, and participation during lessons.
- Partake in training to enable you to carry out your role.
2. Working with the Class Teacher
- Helping the teacher prepare learning materials and classroom resources.
- Encouraging good behaviour and helping to manage classroom discipline.
3. Creating a Safe and Supportive Environment
- Ensuring the classroom is welcoming and conducive to learning.
- Attending to the emotional, social, and physical needs of pupils.
- Supervising pupils during non-teaching times such as breaktime, or lunchtime.
4. Administrative and Organisational Tasks
- Assisting with record-keeping, such as tracking pupil progress or attendance.
- Organising displays of pupils’ work or classroom resources.
5. Supporting Inclusion
- Aiding children with additional learning needs to participate fully in school life.
- Using adapted materials or strategies tailored to pupils’ individual needs.
