Wales Nursing Support Worker (Mental Health)
Swansea Bay University Health Board · Port Talbot, SA12 7BX
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual to join the Detox Ward team at Neath Port Talbot Hospital. The ward is an inpatient detoxification service providing care and treatment to adults experiencing substance dependence and withdrawal, many of whom present with complex physical and mental health needs.
We are seeking a compassionate and committed Healthcare Support Worker who is passionate about delivering high quality, person-centred care to a vulnerable patient group. Previous experience within a healthcare setting is desirable, particularly within mental health, substance use, or inpatient environments.
The Detox Ward is supported by a well-established multidisciplinary team, including a Ward Manager, Registered Nurses, Pharmacist, Psychologist, Occupational Therapist, Physiotherapist and third sector partners. The team works collaboratively to support patients through safe detoxification, stabilisation, and engagement in recovery-focused care.
The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting patients with activities of daily living, therapeutic engagement, enhanced observation, and maintaining a safe and supportive ward environment. This role is ideal for someone who is caring, resilient, and committed to supporting patients through a challenging but transformative stage of their recovery journey.
