To provide highly specialist Occupational Therapy interventions to critical care, transplant, adult cardiothoracic surgery, cardiology patients within the acute, specialist hospital setting. Manage a caseload of patients with highly complex needs, using evidence-based and client-centred principles to assess, plan, implement and evaluate interventions. Provide this service with a caseload of complex cases as an autonomous practitioner, demonstrating high-level problem solving and clinical reasoning skills, and independence in judgement.
To provide leadership for junior staff, through regular supervision and annual appraisal. Contribute to the maintenance and development of the Occupational Therapy Service, and represent the Occupational Therapy service within the Trust.
To play a major role in the continuous development of the Trust as a member of the Occupational Therapy team and as a potential member of a range of Trust quality/process improvement project groups.
To work in partnership with the Complex Discharge team ensuring timely and appropriate discharges for patients.

Essential: - Recognised degree or diploma in Occupational Therapy; - HCPC registration; - Educators course
Desirable: - Further postgraduate study in the form of courses, a taught masters programme or a research-based degree
Essential: - Significant Post-qualification experience in general medicine/care of the elderly/cardio-respiratory; - Delivery of Occupational Therapy services that comply with professional standards; - Supervision of junior OT staff members and assistants; - Experience of multidisciplinary and multi-agency working
Desirable: - Post-qualification experience of neurological rehabilitation; - Developing, monitoring, evaluating and auditing services; - Previous specialist OT experience
Essential: - Management of a varied adult caseload with evidence of skills in acute and community settings; - Evidence of team work and effective communication; - Skills to manage and be accountable for workload prioritisation system; - Understand and implement appropriate standards, including risk management in all work undertaken
Desirable: - Ability to undertake team leadership roles where appropriate, including staff management and supervisory skills
