Privacy policy

This policy explains what personal data GovJobs collects and how it is used. We aim to collect as little as possible.

What we collect

If you create an account, we store your name, email address, and password (hashed). If you use saved jobs, saved searches, or alerts, we store those preferences and the notes you add. If you take out a membership, we store the payment details described under “Membership payments” below. We do not collect or store CVs.

How we use it

We use your account data to sign you in, remember your saved jobs and searches, send the email alerts and deadline reminders you have asked for, and manage your membership. We do not sell your personal data.

Membership payments

Membership payments are processed by Stripe Payments Europe Ltd on Stripe’s own secure pages. When you join, we pass your name and email address to Stripe so it can create a customer record and email you receipts. Your card details are entered on Stripe’s page and held by Stripe; GovJobs never sees or stores your full card number.

From Stripe we receive and store the identifier of your customer record, the status of your subscription and its billing dates, and, for display on your membership page, the card brand and last four digits. Stripe also acts as an independent controller of your payment data for fraud prevention and to meet its own legal duties; its privacy policy explains how. We keep membership and payment records while your account exists and afterwards only for as long as accounting and tax law require.

When your membership begins we send you one confirmation email. Like the email that confirms your address, it is part of providing the service you have paid for, so it does not carry an unsubscribe link; job alerts remain opt-in as described below.

Job alert emails

We only send job alert emails if you have explicitly opted in — either by choosing the job types you want to hear about, or by saving a search with alerts enabled. In both cases you tick a box to confirm, and we record when you gave that consent.

You can pause or delete any alert at any time from your account, and every alert email includes a one-click unsubscribe link that turns off all alerts without needing to sign in. Withdrawing consent is as easy as giving it.

Cookies and local storage

GovJobs uses essential cookies and local storage to keep the site working, remember display preferences, protect account sessions, and support saved jobs or alerts when you sign in.

Advertising

GovJobs is member-supported, and may also carry advertising to help cover the cost of running it. Where advertising is shown on GovJobs it is served by Google AdSense. Advertisers have no involvement in which jobs we list or how we rank them, and they are not told whether you are a member.

Google advertising cookies

Third party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user's prior visits to GovJobs or other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and/or other sites on the Internet.

Where you have not consented to personalised advertising, ads are still shown but are chosen without using your browsing history — Google calls these non-personalised ads.

You can opt out of personalized advertising in Google Ads Settings. You can also opt out of some third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalized advertising at aboutads.info.

Google may use other advertising partners to fill ad space on GovJobs. You can see the current list of companies Google works with, and opt out of cookie-based personalised advertising from each of them, in Google's list of advertising technology providers and at aboutads.info.

Consent for ads

For visitors in the UK, EEA, or Switzerland, GovJobs asks for your consent before advertising cookies are used or personalised ads are shown. Consent is collected through a Google-certified Consent Management Platform, and your choice is passed on to Google and its advertising partners.

You can change or withdraw that choice at any time by reopening the consent message from the link it places on the page. Withdrawing consent is as easy as giving it, and does not stop you using GovJobs — you will simply see non-personalised ads instead.

If that consent tool is unavailable, GovJobs shows its own cookie banner instead. Either way, no advertising or analytics cookie is set until you have had the chance to choose.

Your rights

You can access, correct, or delete your account data at any time from your account settings, including deleting your account entirely. For any privacy request, email sales@uniqevo.co.uk.
