The successful candidate will provide technical aspects of the pharmacy medicines management and medicines optimisation services, working at West Park Hospital in Darlington.
You will work with the other pharmacy colleagues, in the dispensary and wards, to provide patients with an accurate and timely supply of medication from admission through to discharge.
You should be able to competently clinically check an array of medication from a variety of order forms.
You will be responsible for a range of technical duties in the dispensary to aid in the smooth and efficient running of the department and will assist the Clinical Pharmacists and Senior Pharmacy Technicians in the provision of a ward-based medicines optimisation service.
You will deliver the technical clinical pharmacy service and promote medicines optimisation across a variety of specialities under the direction of the Lead Pharmacy Technician, whilst always promoting a positive image of people with mental health conditions and learning disabilities.

Essential: - NVQ level 3 with BTEC underpinning knowledge in pharmaceutical sciences or equivalent; - Registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) (At the time of applying Pre-registration Pharmacy technicians MUST be due to qualify/register in four months or less); - Accredited checking qualification (or willing to work towards)
Desirable: - NHSEngland Medicines Optimisation Modules 1-7; - CPPE The community Pharmacy technician: advancing your role programme; - CPPE Mental Health
Essential: - Experience of pharmacy practice
Desirable: - Experience of a patient facing role
Essential: - Understanding of the risk issues associated with medicines
Desirable: - Microsoft Office including Teams, word, Powerpoint and Excel; - Use of email; - Use of internet
Essential: - Good communication skills, written and verbal; - Organisational and time management skills; - Patient centred care; - Able to follow legal and organisational policies and procedures; - Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Desirable: - Leadership experience and/or staff supervision
Essential: - Suitable to work with vulnerable patients; - Ability to travel independently in accordance with Trust policies and service need
