Security Officers provide response to security incidents/alarms & fire calls throughout the hospital sites. Some calls will involve violent and/or aggressive scenarios. In addition, the role includes strategic site patrols, handling of cash, dealing with and assisting the general public, traffic management plus a range of additional duties.

Porters carry out a variety of essential tasks including; patient movement, collection of all waste streams, delivery & collection of linen and many other important duties that require a great deal of physical dexterity and the ability to function in a very fast paced and demanding environment. Many of the tasks can be particularly repetitive and physically demanding.

  • To assist Trust management in the provision of effective / efficient Portering Service using all equipment / resources available to the department.
  • To provide essential Fire, Rescue Team response to Helipad as required.

  • All posts are subject to NHS pre-employment checks including occupational health clearance and DBS (where appropriate).
  • All pay progression is conditional upon a positive outcome at annual appraisal.
  • All successful candidates who require a DBS for the post they have been offered pay for their DBS certificate. The method of payment is a salary deduction from your first month's pay. You will be required to sign a DBS payment form which will be issued to you as part of your recruitment process.
  • All new employees will be required to attend the Trust induction programme and complete appropriate mandatory training requirements.
  • Where professional registration is required for a post it is the responsibility of the employee to maintain their registration.
  • The Trust operates a no smoking policy.

Essential: - The post holder should be able to communicate well, have good writing skills and be able to work alone or as part of a team

Desirable: - Use of electrical equipment including driving of tugs and use of hand-barrows; - Knowledge of Trust sites an advantage; - Knowledge of Portering procedures / systems of operation

Desirable: - Experience in customer service; - Portering / Security experience; - Previous firefighting experience; - Experience in portering tasks including Post sorting

Desirable: - NVQ 2 or similar qualifications (educated to Secondary Modern/Comprehensive School level); - Full UK driving licence
