Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (HHFT) has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Research Nurse to join the R & D team for 37.5 hours/we...

The purpose of the job is to assist, coordinate and implement a variety of research studies conducted within the Trust.

As a Research Nurse you will be responsible for assessing and managing the care pathways for patients and carers participating in these trials, facilitating high standards of nursing care and promoting the continuity of care of patients involved in these trials. This will involve recruitment, education and monitoring of trial patients and the collection and documentation of accurate research data, all of which must be managed in accordance with ICH, GCP and the EU Directive on Clinical Trials and local HHFT SOP's. The post holder will be expected to develop relevant skills and knowledge relating to clinical trials, research methodology and requirements of local, national and international research regulations. You will work collaboratively with the wider multi-disciplinary team in the management of your caseload of clinical trial patients. You will promote the continued improvement in the care of research participants and quality of research data.

The post holder will support and deputise for the Senior Research Nurse, ensuring effective leadership of others within research.

The role of the Research nurse is to coordinate clinical research studies at HHFT.

Provide research nursing input into clinical research studies. Co-ordinate a group of patients enrolled in research studies. To support and maintain a framework to lead, deliver and support clinical supervision, mentorship and education for all staff and students. Work according to GCP and research governance standards for clinical trials. It is expected that the post holder will also provide non-specialty assistance to other Research Nurses conducting clinical research.

Act in accordance with the Code of Conduct/Professional Practice Standards of your profession e.g. NMC, HPC etc. Maintain own professional development, maintaining a personal portfolio. Identify own needs for clinical supervision and the most appropriate way to implement this. Understand and adhere to Trust policies and procedures. Maintain patient confidentiality at all times. To adhere to Code of Conduct/Professional Standards of your Profession e.g. NMC or HCPC. Embrace and implement the vision and values of HHFT

The post holder will be required to work cross all sites in Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

Essential: - Able to demonstrate a good command of the English Language both written and verbal; - Professional registration e.g NMC or HPC; - Degree level education or equivalent knowledge and skills gained through experience or alternative study; - Training or experience in mentorship; - Good clinical practice training

Desirable: - Communication skills learning or development

Essential: - Experience post registration; - Evidence of Continued Professional Development; - Evidence of implementing significant change or developments that promote good practice; - Experience of managing a caseload of patients; - Experience working with Commercial and non - commercial clinical trials to GCP/EU directive standards

Desirable: - Previous experience of working in an acute clinical area; - Previous experience in Oncology / haematology

Essential: - Ability to evaluate, assess and plan care for patients; - Demonstrates the required behaviour in keeping with the Trust values; - Excellent interpersonal Skills; - Accurate record keeping, time management skills and keeping calm under pressure; - Evidence of good team working, ability to work independently, communicate effectively; - Evidence of working in all aspects of the research process from study start-up, recruitment and delivery, to closure of a study.; - Experience of research delivery

Desirable: - Phlebotomy skills; - The ability to work at problems from a unique or different angle; - Experience caring for Level 2 or level 3 patients

Essential: - Evidence of being highly motivated, enthusiatic and able to attain goals, wants to improve and meet targets; - Flexible, patient focused positive and willing to work cross sites; - IT literate

Desirable: - Responds positively to constructive feedback
