Job description
The role holder will provide insight and intelligence to support Marketing and other internal stakeholders across the University. The role is designed to help the University strategically position product portfolio and pricing within a competitive sector landscape. This role will also lead and coordinate the development of market and customer insights, identifying key opportunities across segmented audience groups and informing campaigns and interventions. The role will support the University in understanding its positioning relative to competitors and ensure we are prepared to leverage significant shifts in market dynamics, maintaining a strong competitive advantage in an evolving environment.

ABOUT THE TEAM
You will be based within UK Marketing and Student Recruitment, working as part of a collaborative and fast-paced team that plays a central role in shaping Northumbria's positioning and growth in a competitive higher education sector. The team works closely with colleagues across Marketing, as well as with academic and professional services colleagues across the University's Faculties, to ensure decisions are grounded in robust insight and evidence.
Within Marketing we deliver a range of services including brand and campaign development, digital marketing, market and competitor insight, student recruitment and admissions, events and open days, and content and communications.
To be successful in the role you will have:
- Experience of market research or analysis – ideally gained within a market research or insight function, with a track record of planning and delivering research, insight or analysis projects.
- Strong data analysis skills – including experience analysing large datasets and creating dashboards or other engaging ways of presenting data, with proficiency in Excel (PowerBI experience desirable).
- Experience of quantitative research techniques, such as questionnaire design and survey analysis.
- Excellent communication skills – confident delivering engaging presentations as well as writing clear, compelling reports and analysis tailored to different audiences.
- A good understanding of the higher education sector, including awareness of the key trends, challenges and opportunities affecting the sector, along with knowledge of marketing, insight and research principles.
- Strong planning and stakeholder management skills – able to manage competing priorities and deadlines while building effective working relationships across the University.
