Pushforward Secondary Education Ltd is looking for a 1st / 2nd Line Engineer.

Pushforward has spent 13 years developing provision for the education of young people who do not fit within a mainstream approach to learning.

We are seeking a proactive and technically skilled 1st/2nd Line Engineer to support the management and maintenance of our technical infrastructure within our fast-paced educational environment. You will bring hands-on experience across 1st and 2nd line support, both onsite and office-based, a pragmatic approach to problem-solving, and the confidence to work effectively with staff, sometimes students, and external partners at all levels.

You will be someone with a positive, 'can-do' attitude, charismatic, self-motivated, and willing to learn and further develop your knowledge. You will be able to communicate clearly in both technical and non-technical terms and demonstrate strong customer service skills. Excellent attention to detail and accurate data entry skills are essential, as maintaining system records, updating asset inventories, managing support tickets, and ensuring the integrity of technical documentation form an important part of the role. The ability to remain organised, manage competing priorities, and adapt within a dynamic environment is also key.

Key skills and experience

  • knowledge of Windows 11 Pro
  • experience of Microsoft Azure, SharePoint, Teams, OneDrive, Microsoft 365 Admin Center and Entra ID
  • good understanding of Networking - IP addressing, DHCP, DNS and Firewalls
  • knowledge of mobile devices (iOS, Android)
  • excellent problem-solving skills
  • accurate data‑entry skills with strong attention to detail
  • flexible, adaptable, and able to prioritise effectively while calm under pressure
  • full driving licence and transport.
  • understanding of managed wireless solutions (e.g., Ubiquiti, TP‑Link)
  • familiarity with web‑filtering tools and managed antivirus platforms (Kaseya/lightspeed preferred)
  • previous experience in the education sector is beneficial but not essential
  • awareness of security best practices, including firewalls and workstation security
  • good understanding of IT software, hardware and components.
  • conducting stock checks and maintaining inventory accuracy
  • producing weekly SLT reports as required
  • setting up laptops and mobile devices (Windows, Android, and occasional iMac)
  • troubleshooting network/ IP issues and supporting connectivity queries
  • managing administrative tasks such as asset registers and IT support tickets
  • handling the starters/leavers process
  • visiting sites as required to support the business IT needs
  • diagnosing and resolving network, IP or line issues
  • assisting with new site setups, including configuring networking equipment, broadband/router installations, and Ubiquiti network deployments
  • troubleshooting day-to-day IT issues in O365 and queries for printers, laptops, desktops, mobiles and associated hardware/software
  • manage Microsoft Azure, Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive, Microsoft 365 Admin Center and Entra ID, Lightspeed and Kaseya Rmm.

Database coding would be advantageous but not essential - PHP, CSS, HTML and JS – Possibility to develop into fulltime role if desired.
