Job description

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join Aston University as a Business Hub Receptionist, providing a welcoming and professional service at a space designed to support innovative start-ups and growing businesses.

Based at Aston Business Hub on Woodcock Street, you will be the first point of contact for tenants, visitors, staff and students. The Hub will accommodate up to 100 entrepreneurial businesses working in areas including artificial intelligence, digital systems and data science, connecting them with the University’s expertise and facilities.

You will deliver excellent customer service, manage telephone and email enquiries, arrange visitor bookings and issue passes. You will help tenants connect with relevant University colleagues, undertake initial security ID checks, report faults and maintain a welcoming reception area. Working within a small team, you will provide flexible cover and support other University sites when required.

You will have a good general education to GCSE level or equivalent, proven reception or administrative experience, and excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Confidence using Microsoft Office, a professional telephone manner and the ability to work independently and collaboratively are essential. You will handle challenging situations calmly and maintain high standards of confidentiality and security.

A customer service qualification, experience supporting small businesses or working in education, and familiarity with a PC-based switchboard would be advantageous.

For informal enquiries, contact William Morgan, Head of Security, at w.morgan3@aston.ac.uk.
