Job description
We are looking for an experienced Caretaker to provide a high standard of estate cleaning and caretaking services across Gateway Housing Association estates, ensuring communal areas, gardens, and buildings are safe, clean, and well-maintained for residents. The post holder will act as a visible presence on estates, supporting resident satisfaction, health and safety, and community wellbeing.
Your duties will include but not be limited to:
- Clean and maintain communal areas, bin stores, car parks, gardens, and landscaped areas
- Liaise with residents, customer services, and local authority teams regarding environmental standards
- Ensure communal lighting, locks, and security systems are operational and defects reported promptly.
- Report anti-social behaviour, vandalism, abandoned properties, and stray animals
- Take practical steps to address hazards and escalate appropriately
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and guidelines. Report any potential hazards or safety concerns to the appropriate teams
Experience and Skills
- Experience in a caretaking role, preferably in a residential or estate setting.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to follow instructions and apply COSHH guidance
- Reliable, self-motivated, and organised
- Awareness of Health & Safety requirements, including manual handling
