Job description

Grade UE05: £30,180 – £34,630 per annum

Clinical Laboratory / Easter Bush Pathology / Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies

Full Time: 35 Hours/week

Open Ended Contract

The Clinical Pathology Laboratory at Easter Bush provides high‑quality diagnostic services that support clinical care, teaching, and research across the Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies. We are a busy, friendly, and collaborative team working at the heart of the school’s diagnostic activity, processing a wide range of clinical samples and contributing directly to patient care and research excellence.

We are looking for a motivated and organised individual to join us as a Clinical Pathology Technician. In this role, you will carry out essential laboratory tasks including sample preparation, analysis, quality checks, and maintaining equipment. You will work closely with experienced colleagues and clinicians, ensuring results are delivered accurately and on time. You will also support diagnostic processing for the Dairy Herd Health and Productivity Service, whose samples are handled within the Clinical Pathology Laboratory and contribute to departmental business.

This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys hands-on technical work, problem solving and being part of a supportive team. You'll gain experience across a range of diagnostic techniques, with opportunities to develop your skills and contribute to ongoing improvements in how we deliver our service. As the laboratory continues to evolve and enhance its processes, you will play an important role in shaping how we work, ensuring we continue to meet the needs of our clinical and research users, and ultimately contributing to the health and wellbeing of animal companions.

Working at the University of Edinburgh means joining a community that values professionalism, collaboration, and continuous improvement. You’ll have access to a wide range of staff benefits, professional development opportunities, and a workplace where your contribution makes a meaningful difference every day.

If you’re enthusiastic, reliable, and keen to build your experience in a diagnostic laboratory environment, we’d be delighted to hear from you.
