We are looking to recruit a Control Centre Operator (Highways Control Room) to be part of a team responsible for the co-ordination of operational resources, planning and organising road repairs on day-today basis and occasionally during severe weather events across Leicestershire. This is a Hybrid role, predominantly home based, working within a small, friendly team as well as liaising with other teams across the department. You will be supported by knowledgeable, experienced team members and full training will be provided.

If you are keen and a practical thinker, who is looking for a new challenge you could be ideal for this post.

To apply for this post, you must have:

  • Experience of working within highways, civil engineering, or street lighting setting.
  • Experience of programming or scheduling works and the control of resources.
  • Resolving enquiries in real time, feeding back to customers and other stakeholders, and building positive relationships across stakeholders, peers and partners, creating          open and transparent relationships based on trust.
  • Knowledge in using ICT systems and business processes to support the efficient delivery of services.
  • Understanding of Current legislation, policies and procedures; Highways Act, NRSWA, Traffic Management Act, Traffic Regulation Act, CDM etc.
  • Analytical and creative thinking skills.
  • Be able to converse at ease with customers and provide advice in accurate spoken English as this is essential for the post.

In addition, we also expect you to share our commitment to our values and to delivering accessible and inclusive services which meet the needs of all of our residents.  You will be asked to demonstrate your understanding of these commitments as part of the selection process.
