Job description

Job AdvertJob Description

Deliver an effective and efficient Development Management service for the Council.

Requirements

You will, as one of two Development Management Co-ordinators, lead a development management team and manage a varied caseload of planning applications and enquiries from householder development to residential and commercial development.

The Council area and the individual

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced, talented and ambitious Chartered Planner to join our Development Management Team to deal with a wide range of planning case work.

The Falkirk Council area is located at the heart of the Central Belt of Scotland with great connections to the cities. Although a compact area, it has a diverse landscape character and contains a wide range of natural and cultural assets.

Managing sustainable housing growth and delivering the requisite infrastructure is an exciting and ongoing challenge. The area retains a strong manufacturing base, has the largest chemical and petrochemical complex as well as the busiest container port in Scotland.

A just transition to a net zero future is the focus of the area’s Growth Deal, as well as being part of the Forth Green Freeport. Our towns and village centres have regeneration needs as they repurpose and adjust to change.

This post, leading the council’s statutory development management planning functions, has a key role to help meet these challenges and opportunities. If you feel you have the skills to help play your part in leading our development management team, we would love to hear from you.
