Job Title: Finance Transactions Team Supervisor

Grade/Salary: Band F, SCP 26-31 (£37,280 - £41,771 per annum)

Contract Type: Permanent, Full time

Working Pattern: Monday – Friday, 37 hours

Location: Sandwell Council House, Oldbury (Hybrid)

Sandwell Council’s Finance & Transformation Division is seeking an experienced Finance Transactions Team Supervisor to join its Revenues & Benefits team on a permanent, full-time basis based from its Oldbury office. The organisation is operating to a hybrid working model.

We are seeking a proactive individual that will develop and support our Financial Transactions Service team.

This is a key role for the Council where you will be responsible for the day-to-day supervision and management of the Financial Transactions team within Revenues and Benefits, ensuring the delivery of high-quality services that contribute to the organisation's objectives, performance standards and customer service commitments.

This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated leader with strong financial administration experience, excellent people management skills and a passion for service improvement and digital transformation.

  • Lead, motivate and develop the Financial Transactions team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and excellent customer service.
  • Manage the day-to-day operational activities of the Financial Transactions function, ensuring accuracy, efficiency and compliance with service standards.
  • Support the Revenues and Benefits Financial Transactions Manager in the effective delivery of the service.
  • Ensure the smooth operation of Cashier Services across multiple sites within Sandwell, providing leadership and support where required.
  • Drive service modernisation initiatives, promoting the development and adoption of digital services, online transactions and automation solutions.
  • Monitor team performance, identify improvement opportunities and implement effective operational processes.
  • Support organisational objectives by ensuring the team delivers a responsive, efficient and customer-focused service.
  • Ability to motivate individuals and drive team performance especially in tight deadlines in a highly pressurised environment.
  • Excellent communication skills, oral and in writing, including presentation skills in formal, informal and public settings.
  • Ability to analyse and interpret key data and formulate ideas and proposals.
  • A good understanding of the Data Protection Act.
  • Working knowledge of Oracle or similar applications.
  • Able to lead and manage a large team of staff through complex and continuous change.
