Job description

We are looking for an Engineer to deliver projects that maintain and improve our highway network. Our network of roads, footpaths, and cycleways is an essential part of everyone’s lives. It helps people access things like work, learning, essential services, and leisure activities.

We are responsible for over 1,049km of roads, 1,597km of footpaths and cycleways, and many other assets including:

  • 470 structures
  • 361 traffic signals
  • 15,000 signs

About You

We want a passionate and self-motivated person to join our Highway Design and Maintenance team. You will work on a variety ofschemes from capital investment projects, where you will be responsible for the design and construction of new highway infrastructure projects, to delivering schemes as part of our highway maintenance programme.

You will work individually, and as part of a team, to manage the delivery of projects. We will expect you to deliver projects professionally, safely, to budget, and on time. Our projects require extensive collaboration, so you will need the ability to interact and communicate e ectively with partners, stakeholders, and our residents.

Hybrid Working: You will work some of your time at the Civic Centre in the heart of Newcastle and you can work some of your time at home. Flexible Hours: You can balance work and live with the freedom to work between 7am and 7pm, Monday to Friday and you can build up to two additional days leave each month.
