Job description

We are looking for 2 xTrustJuniorClinical FellowsatST1-2levelto work at Barnet Hospital (Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust) for a fixed term of 6 months.

We require the successful candidatestocommencein August and another to start in mid-November due to a vacancy.

This post will be coveringGeneral Paediatrics and Neonatologyandpreviousexperiencein Paediatrics intheUK is essential.

At Barnet Hospital there is a busy 30 bedded general Paediatric ward and a level 2 neo-natal intensive care unit. The Paediatric department is located in a new well equipped building. The department has a well-established education programme. If required, the successful candidate would be offered support for their application into run-through training.

There are 24paediatricconsultants spread across Barnet Hospital, Chase Farm Hospital and Barnet & Enfield Community.Currently there are 16ST4+ level posts and 16ST1-3 level posts based at Barnet Hospitalwith an excellent culture for teaching and training.There is a busy Level 2 Neonatal Unit with 30 cots including the first UKIndividualised care unit (ICR),an exciting and innovative part of our service providing individual rooms for mothers to stay together with their fully monitored babies.On the general sidethere isa 30 bedded general paediatric ward,achildren'soutpatient unit, an assessment unit for ambulatory care and abusy A& E at Barnet.At Chase Farm there are excellentoutpatient facilities.

  • Registration with the General Medical Council
  • MBBS or equivalent
  • APLS course
  • MRCPH Part 1
  • A qualification in Medical Education
  • Ability to demonstrate broad clinical skills in the management of all patients
  • Experience in Paediatrics
  • Evidence of an interest in teaching
  • Previous audit experience
  • Previous publications

Skills and aptitudes

  • Awareness of principles of Risk Management
  • Evidence of academic excellence e.g. BSc, prizes, distinctions etc
  • Good understanding of the forces and drivers of influencing change in the NHS

Personal Qualities & attributes

  • Able to communicate clearly & grammatically in both verbal & written English.
  • Able to work on own initiative.
  • Able to work well in a multidisciplinary team
  • Well organized
