Accrington Library Assistant | Salary £25,185 - £25,989 Per Annum Pro Rata | 20hpw | Permanent - Part Time | Lancashire Library Service

We are looking for an enthusiastic, customer focussed and digitally confident individual to join our library teams.

As a Library Assistant, you'll support the delivery of a high-quality library and information service.

  • Assisting customers with accessing digital resources and information.

You will be appointed to a library base(s), but there will be an expectation that you will work at other libraries as required.

Hours of work are listed against the available post and are a set working pattern over two weeks, please see the rota attachment at the bottom of the advert. These hours cannot be changed.

Our ideal person will be welcoming and friendly, have a love for reading and be passionate about sharing this. You will have excellent communication and digital skills, be able to work with a range of stakeholders and be able to deliver a customer focused service.

The interview process will be in two parts. All shortlisted candidates will be invited to attend an assessment day, which will last around an hour, details below. Only applicants successful at the assessment day will then be invited for a formal interview.

Interview 1 (assessment day) - Thursday 24th September - Accrington Library

  • A meeting with a manager
  • Tour of the library and explanation of duties
  • Work related short assessments

Interview 2 (formal interview) - Thursday 1st October - Accrington Library

Please note the salary quoted for this position is the full time equivalent. These positions are part time, therefore, the salary received will be paid on a pro–rata basis.

Local Government Reorganisation

The Government has confirmed that local government across Lancashire will be reorganised, with the current 15 councils being replaced by four new unitary councils covering North, South, East and West Lancashire from April 2028.

If you are successful in your application, you will initially join Lancashire County Council. However, as part of the planned transition, your employment will transfer to one of the new unitary councils from April 2028, subject to the implementation of the reorganisation and relevant employment legislation.
