Help decide how £20 million is spent in Twydall, Luton and Strood
Join your Neighbourhood Board
Medway has been awarded up to £20 million over the next ten years through the government's Pride in Place programme for the neighbourhoods of Twydall, Luton and Strood. How that money is spent will be decided locally, by a Neighbourhood Board made up of people who live and work here.
We are now looking for around [10] people to join that Board.
What the Board does
- Decides the priorities for the area, from parks and shops to community buildings and safer streets
- Writes the ten year plan for each area which goes to government in February 2027
- Chooses which projects get funded
- Checks that the work actually gets done
What we are asking of you
- A meeting roughly every six weeks, lasting two to three hours, in [area]
- An hour or so beforehand to read the papers
- Getting out and talking to people locally about what they want
That is about one day a month on average.
You do not need qualifications, and you do not need to have been on a board before. We will give you training and support.
What matters is that you know this area, that you care about it, and that you are willing to listen to people who see things differently from you.
We especially want to hear from people who are not usually asked: young people, older residents, disabled people, carers, private renters, small business owners, and people from every community.
The practical bits
The role is voluntary and unpaid. We will cover reasonable expenses if cost is a barrier to your participation. Meetings are held in accessible venues at times the Board agrees, some meetings may also be held virtually.
To apply complete the expression of interest form below by 11th September 2026.
Strood Neighbourhood Board Expression of Interest Form
Twydall & Gillingham Neighbourhood Board Expression of Interest Form
Luton Neighbourhood Board Expression of Interest Form
If you would rather talk it through first or need help with the expression of interest form please email prideinplace@medway.gov.uk.
This is your neighbourhood. This is your money. Come and help spend it well.
