Job description
We have two 18 hour positions available, the hours will vary from 7am starts to 8pm finishes over a 7 day period and a typical shift will be 6 hours. (Weekend and bank holidays attract good enhanced pay rates)
We're looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Catering Supervisor to join our hardworking retail catering team at Lincoln County Hospital. This role is key to ensuring our cafs and retail outlets deliver excellent service every day to patients, visitors, and staff.
You'll work alongside other supervisors to lead our catering assistants, support smooth day to day operations, and help maintain a safe, efficient, high quality food service across all retail areas. What We're Looking For
- A confident team leader with experience in a busy catering or retail environment
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- Knowledge of food safety procedures (HACCP, COSHH) -- or willingness to learn

What You'll Be Doing
- Supervising catering assistants to ensure excellent service across all retail outlets
- Overseeing food preparation, cooking, chilling, freezing, and meal regeneration
- Supporting new menu ideas, recipe development, and product testing
- Monitoring waste, costs, hygiene standards, and safe working practices
- Ensuring attractive presentation and efficient handling of chilled, frozen, and ambient items
- Completing temperature checks, hygiene audits, and necessary food safety documentation
- Cleaning and maintaining equipment and reporting faults promptly
- Deputising for the Catering Manager when required
- Contributing to continuous improvement and service development

Grantham and District Hospital serves the communities of Grantham and the local area. It provides ambulatory paediatric and accident and emergency services.
Lincolnshire Community Health Services NHS Trust (LCHS) and United Lincolnshire Hospitals NHS Trust (ULHT) have come together in a Group arrangement, with the goal of improving the care provided to patients across the county.
This will not constitute a formal merger of the two organisations, but will bring the Trusts together under a single Board and Executive Leadership Team, with the goal of improving the care that is provided to patients both in the community and in hospitals across Lincolnshire. Both Trusts will retain their separate statutory names and legal obligations.
The Group will be known as Lincolnshire Community and Hospitals NHS Group (LCHG).

Qualifications (Academic, Professional & Vocational)
- Food Hygiene Certificate Supervisory qualification NVQ Level 3 or previous experience
- City and Guilds 706/1
- City and Guilds 706/2 (or NVQ equivalent)
Previous Experience (Nature & Level)
- Evidence of high personal standards
- Previous cooking experience
- Previous supervisory experience
Evidence of Particular: - Knowledge - Skills - Aptitudes
- Good customer care skills
- Good communication skills
- Able to complete production records
- Experience in using catering equipment
- Able to operate machinery after training Capable of working without direct supervision
- Ability to evidence/demonstrate key values and behaviours in line with the Trust framework: ?Patient Centred ?Safety ?Compassion ?Respect and Excellence
- Cook-Chill experience

- Able to work in high and low temperature areas
