Job description
Sunderland City Council is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and hard-working Senior Licensing Officer to assist in the promotion and safeguarding of public safety through the operation of an effective and efficient licensing and regulatory regime.
The successful applicant will have a positive proactive attitude, demonstrate substantial experience and understanding of local authority licensing functions and a sound knowledge of enforcing legislation and handling criminal evidence. The post holder will also provide a significant contribution in the review and implementation of policy documents.
The work involves statutory timescales and tight deadlines and therefore requires an ability to work under pressure
The post holder will also effectively engage with businesses, trade representatives, licence holders and applicants alongside other partner agencies involved in the regulation of licensable activities.
This post is exempt from the rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and therefore will be subject to a DBS check from the Disclosure and Barring Service.
