Job description

  • Salary: £31,537 to £36,363 per annum (pro rata for part time)
  • Hours: Full Time, 37 hours per week
  • Contract: Permanent

We are looking for a Sheltered Housing Officer to join our Sheltered Housing Team.

Based predominantly at our Sheltered Housing Schemes in Eye and Botesdale, you may be required to provide cover at other schemes when required. The main duties involve visiting and supporting tenants and helping them to live independently.

You will carry out a range of housing related support duties for residents of sheltered housing schemes, including:

  • welfare calls to residents, identifying and arranging additional support if required
  • respond in an emergency to residents
  • maintain accurate and up-to-date records
  • complete support plans, viewings and sign ups
  • weekly and monthly Health and Safety inspections/checks
  • report any safeguarding issues.

You will ensure that the council policies, procedures and risk assessments are strictly adhered to.

Reporting to the Sheltered Housing Manager, you will have day to day responsibility for the cleaning staff.

We are looking for a dedicated person who is organised, able to manage a varied and sometimes challenging workload and can communicate well, showing empathy and compassion.

  • A relevant qualification at NVQ 2 or Equivalent knowledge gained through experience.
  • Basic First Aid Certificate
  • Knowledge of the needs of older people and an awareness of Safeguarding issues
  • IT skills required with considerable experience of Microsoft Office package including Microsoft Excel and Teams.
  • ability to maintain accurate records
  • ability to organise and structure your own working day and work without direct supervision
  • An awareness of health and safety matters

This role is based on site, with time divided between two sheltered schemes at Eye and Botesdale and sometimes covering other schemes nearby, therefore access to a vehicle and a valid UK driving licence are essential.
