Job description

Contract Type: Permanent

Working Hours: 37 hrs per week

Worker Type: Hybrid Worker

Salary: Starting Salary is £40,777 (Level one) rising to £44,075 incrementally pro rata for part-time’ - Pay award pending.

Location: Loxley House, Station Street, Nottingham, NG2 3NG

This is a rare opportunity to step away from purely commercial drivers and instead focus on meaningful legal work that directly benefits Nottingham and its communities as a Solicitor (Commercial Property & Conveyancing).

At Nottingham City Council, your work will help deliver homes, regeneration projects and long-term city development, making a visible difference to the place you live and work.

If you’re looking for purpose, balance and impact, this role offers all three.

You will join our busy and collaborative conveyancing and commercial property team, manage a varied caseload and work closely with colleagues across the Council.

  • Residential conveyancing, including acquisitions and disposals (including Right to Buy)
  • Commercial property and landlord & tenant work
  • Development and regeneration projects
  • General estates matters

You’ll also play a key role in supporting and supervising junior colleagues, contributing to the development of the team.

  • Qualified Solicitor or Chartered Legal Executive
  • Experience in residential conveyancing
  • Experience across commercial property matters, including leases and acquisitions
  • Ability to manage complex legal matters independently
  • understanding of local government or public sector context (or transferable experience)
  • This post is covered by the statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) (English Language Requirement for public sector workers) and therefore the ability to speak fluent English, is an essential requirement for the role.
