Help shape the right support for children with disabilities and their families.

The Disabled Children's Team is committed to supporting children and young people with disabilities to achieve the best possible outcomes. The team works closely with children, families and partner agencies to ensure support arrangements remain appropriate, effective and responsive to individual needs. As a Reviewing Officer, you will play an important role in maintaining regular contact with families, reviewing support packages and working collaboratively with professionals to ensure children continue to receive the right support at the right time

Make sure every child gets the support they need to thrive.

  • Undertake reviews of children with disabilities cases where stable support packages are in place and active social work intervention is not required.
  • Ensure children and families continue to meet eligibility criteria for local authority services and that support arrangements remain appropriate to their needs.
  • Maintain regular contact with children and families through home visits and telephone contact.
  • Attend Child in Need review meetings alongside Social Workers where required.
  • Participate in Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) meetings and work with partner professionals to review support arrangements.
  • Present support packages to Resource Panel for annual review and seek approval for any proposed changes.
  • Build positive and effective working relationships with children, families and a range of professionals.
  • Maintain accurate records, prepare reports and contribute to informed decision-making.
  • Work in line with relevant legislation, policies and procedures relating to children and families.
  • Support the wider work of the team and undertake duties appropriate to the role.

Use your expertise to review, support and improve outcomes for children with disabilities.

  • Knowledge of child development, safeguarding and child protection legislation, including the Children Act 1989.
  • Significant experience working with children and young people with disabilities and their families.
  • Experience of assessing children and families and identifying appropriate support arrangements.
  • Strong partnership working skills and the ability to build effective relationships with professionals and families.
  • Excellent communication, report writing and presentation skills.
  • Ability to prioritise workloads, work independently and manage competing demands effectively.
